The storage principle of the ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) is based on the subject and type of the collection materials. The general principles are: low-circulation books, dissertations and theses, rarely used reference books, ancient books that are in poor condition and need to be properly preserved, books with special bindings that are not suitable for open shelf display, and other considerations based on library conditions and environment. According to the usage status of the books, and to support the teaching and research needs of teachers and students as well, if the open-shelf display is more appropriate, the library will also consider to adjust flexibly the reading service method.
